Production Line Overview
This automated EPDM sealing strip production line is specifically engineered for manufacturing sealing strips using EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber. The system delivers high efficiency, continuous operation, and precise control for applications in automotive, construction, and household appliance industries.
Production Process
Raw Material Preparation and Mixing
EPDM rubber serves as the primary material, combined with vulcanizing agents, reinforcing agents, and foaming agents. The mixture is evenly blended using a twin-screw extruder or open mill to create stable rubber compound. After mixing, the material undergoes aging and maturation to ensure uniformity.
Extrusion Molding
A single-screw or co-extrusion machine heats and melts the rubber compound, then extrudes it through specialized dies to form the desired cross-sectional shapes. Complex products utilize multi-layer co-extrusion for soft-hard composites or colored stripes.
Cooling and Stabilization
Hot extruded profiles are cooled in water tanks or spray systems using circulating water. Precise control of cooling speed and temperature prevents deformation and internal stress generation.
Sulfurization Curing
EPDM rubber requires post-sulfurization treatment to achieve optimal elasticity and durability. Standard methods include hot air sulfurization ovens (180–220°C), with advanced lines employing salt bath or microwave preheating combined with hot air processes for enhanced efficiency and uniformity.
Post-processing and Inspection
Optional processes include electrostatic flocking (door seal lips), surface spraying, drilling, and cutting. Modern production lines integrate laser diameter measurement instruments and machine vision systems for real-time dimensional and appearance defect inspection.
Traction and Cutting
Traction machines maintain constant speed for consistent sizing, while fixed-length shearing or hydraulic cutting machines perform automated length cutting. Dust collection devices remove debris during processing.
Finished Product Collection and Packaging
Completed products are stacked, rolled, or bundled for packaging, with support for automated palletizing and logistics integration.
